SHIJIAZHUANG, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Xiong'an New Area, located in north China's Hebei Province, has recorded a total installed capacity of clean energy topping 159,500 kilowatts to date, said State Grid Hebei Electric Power Co., Ltd.
In the first two months of this year alone, Xiong'an New Area added 12,900 kilowatts of clean energy installed capacity, soaring more than 257 percent from the same period of last year.
Currently, the company is working on key technology research and new platform applications; accelerating its construction of the distributed photovoltaic development and planning analysis platform; and introducing advanced energy storage technologies and intelligent power grid technologies, to ensure the steady and efficient supply and utilization of new energy.
In April 2017, China announced a plan to establish the Xiong'an New Area, which spans the Rongcheng, Anxin and Xiongxian counties, as well as some adjacent areas in Hebei Province.
The new area aims to relieve Beijing of non-essential functions related to its status as the nation's capital, while also advancing the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. ■
